You paste a list, press spin, and the wheel lands on one entry. There is no account, no download and no limit on how often you use it.
This page explains who runs the site, why it works the way it does, and how it pays for itself.
Why we built it
Random pickers are a solved problem and most of them are still annoying to use. The common complaints are the same everywhere: you cannot paste a list without reformatting it, the wheel forgets everything when you close the tab, sharing means sending a screenshot, and the settings you actually need are buried behind a signup.
So the starting point was a short list of things the tool had to do before anything else got built:
- Take a pasted list, one entry per line, with no cleanup step
- Remove winners as you go, so everyone gets a turn
- Share a wheel as a link that carries the list with it
- Work on a phone and on a classroom whiteboard without changes
- Never ask for an account
Everything else on the site is a variation on that wheel with a different list loaded.
How the site pays for itself
Display advertising, and nothing else. There is no paid tier, no premium version and nothing to buy, so the ads are what keeps the tool free and running.
We would rather say that plainly than leave you to work it out. It also explains two things you will notice:
There are ads on the page, placed so they stay out of the way of the wheel. And the site uses cookies for advertising and analytics, which the privacy policy sets out in full, including what you can turn off.
What we do not do is sell the lists you type in. The names you enter never reach our servers at all, which is a design decision rather than a promise: there is nowhere for them to go.
How the wheel decides
Every spin draws from your browser's cryptographic random number generator. The result is chosen before the animation starts, and the animation is calculated to land on it.
Nothing is weighted unless you weight it yourself, and when you do, the weights stay visible on the wheel rather than hidden in a setting. If you want to check any of that, how our randomness works shows the code and the distribution test.
Who runs it

Suggest a wheel
If there is a wheel the site does not have, or one that exists and is missing entries, tell us. Rosters go out of date and the fastest way we find out is when someone says so.
